I started learning the language of Art in the year 2000, as a personal challenge to experience something I had never done before. Drawing and painting classes followed one after the other, and soon I was unable to extricate myself from this new adventure.
My first goal as a painter was to acquire a basket of competencies in painting skills to form the foundation for developing a painting style of my own. I quickly realized that this was a life-time goal! Today I paint what I cannot record in a photograph, or express in words-the colors of a brilliant sunset which imprinted in my mind much more vividly than a snapshot taken on vacation, a memory that comes from an encounter with a friend, an incidental event that taught me a life lesson, places where I experience joy or grief from simply being human....these are the things that inform my paintings.
Because God gave me a passion for painting, and blessed me with the time and opportunity to do so, it is my pleasure to share what I have. My painting studio is also a classroom for children two days a week. Most of my students are of elementary school age, and I have laughed with them, struggled alongside their brave efforts, and learnt from them in many ways. Above all, I love having them around, and I am proud of all their work!
